The roof of any structure is one of the key elements in the architectural design and one of the most important considerations in the overall longevity of the building once it is complete. Finding products that feature long-term durability and low maintenance is the ultimate goal of every contractor and consumer when creating a building plan and choosing materials.
Metal roofs have become one of the most common choices among commercial and residential builders and their clients in recent years. Likely because they have proven durability, corrosion resistance, are energy efficient and require little maintenance long- term. In fact, in a recent State of the Industry report Roofing Contractor, Rick Pogue, owner of Arrowhead Building Supply said: “I have seen industry reports that forecast an increase in metal roofing systems as high as 20 percent over the next 5-10 years." Pogue also states: “My ‘crystal ball’ foresees that as the technology with metal roofing systems improves over time, metal will continue to grow, especially once you add the rising costs of asphalt roofing products to the mix.”
